Defending women’s champion Olivia Rogowska admits it will be a tough ask to successfully defend her McDonald’s Burnie International title but is looking forward to the opportunity.
Rogowska won back-to-back titles last year, defeating Australian Open doubles partner Monique Adamczak in a marathon three-set final.
With the tournament drawing a high quality field, Rogowska is expected to be seeded fifth in the main draw.
“The field is super tough,” Rogowska said.
“A lot of girls are staying in the country after the Australian Open to travel to Tasmania.
“It’s going to be an extremely tough task to defend my title again, but I feel like this past month I’ve been playing some really good tennis and if I can sustain that level I should be a good chance.”
Rogowska is coming off her equal-best result at the Australian Open, narrowly losing to Elina Svitolina in the second round.
“I’m stoked with how I’m playing at the moment, I definitely feel like I’m playing the best tennis of my career” she said.
