Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
With her second World Championships A-qualifying leap in as many weeks, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Alana Boyd recently jumped a new personal best of 4.60m in the women’s pole vault in a low key inter-club meet in Perth.
Her jump, only two weeks after being the first Australian track and field athlete to post the “A standard” ahead of the World Championships later this year in Daegu, also moves Boyd to equal second on the Australian all-time list.
Boyd moved past Sydney Olympic silver medallist Tatiana Grigorieva, and is now tied with Emma George, an athlete who broke the world record on twelve separate occasions throughout her career.
Boyd followed up her personal best performance with victory at the Sydney Track Classic last weekend.
