Jason Behrendorff made an impressive return to action last night playing a key role in Perth Scorcher’s nine wicket win over the Brisbane Heat.
Playing his first competitive game since November 6 due to a back injury, the reigning Domestic Player of the Year finished with tidy figures of 2/32 from his four overs.
“It feels better than you can actually imagine” Behrendorff said.
“To be honest I’m just stoked to be out there playing again.”
It took just three balls for the left armer to make his presence felt.
A trademark late out-swinger caught the edge of Brisbane’s Lendl Simmons and keeper Cameron Bancroft did the rest.
“To come back and take a wicket in my first over was pretty special,” he said.

He backed that up with the wicket of Jason Floros in his second spell, who missed timed a pull shot and was caught at mid-on.
And while the wickets are always nice, what was more important was getting through the game unscathed.
Behrendorff has managed just eight games since January as he dealt with a stress fracture in his back but is now getting some confidence back in his body.
Last nights return was the first step in building to the form that saw him close to an Australian call up last summer.
Last season Behrendorff was the standout quick of the tournament, taking 15 wickets at 16.73 to help the Scorchers win back-to-back Big Bash titles.
His next chance to impress is on Wednesday against the Melbourne Renegades.[/vc_column_text]
