Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
The Australian men’s 4 x 400 metres relay team has narrowly missed a spot in the Olympic final after several incident-packed heats at the Olympic Stadium in London.
The Australians finished sixth in a time of 3:03:17, but disqualification to the Dominican Republic and Venezuela saw the team promoted to fourth, just one place from an automatic qualifying position.
Ben Offereins ran the second leg, receiving the baton from Steve Solomon who ran the fastest opening leg of the race in a split time of 45.6.
Brendan Cole handed over to John Steffensen in fifth position at the third change but Steffensen was unable to make up any ground.
