Will Bosisto

Some cricketers were born with natural talent. Some have a fierce determination to succeed. Some, West Australian Will Bosisto, have both.

Born in the inner suburbs of Perth, Bosisto has impressed in the middle since his schooldays at the illustrious Scotch College.

The batting all-rounder quickly rose through the ranks of junior cricket representing WA at U/17 and U/19 level earning comparisons to WA great Justin Langer from his then coach Lindsay Finn.

“He just seems to get himself in, deal with pressure, and remain calm. Justin Langer used to thrive under pressure, and Will’s got those same qualities. The tougher it gets, the better he’ll play,” Finn told Inside Sport at the time.

At the U/19 Australian Championships WA finished second with Bosisto leading the way with 329 runs, finishing the tournament as the second highest run scorer.

His impressive resume led to Bosisto being given the honour of captaining Australia at the U/19 World Cup in 2012.

A pugnacious and gritty batsman, Bosisto topped the batting with 276 runs from six World Cup innings, including 87 in the final where Australia fell to India and was named player of the tournament.

Ahead of the 2012-13 Domestic season, a then teenage Bosisto earnt a rookie contract with the Western Warriors and made his debut in the Ryobi Cup in September 2012.

He has currently played three times in Shield cricket with a top score of 44 and best figures with his handy off spin of 2/28.

Former Australia international and now well-renowned international coach, Stuart Law believes Bosisto has the ability to make it all the way to a baggy green.

“He plays within his limitations. There’re plenty of batsmen out there who get pretty 20s and 30s, but that won’t get you too far. It might go alright in the IPL, but it won’t go too far in Test cricket. Don’t forget, we’re producing cricketers here to play cricket for Australia at the Test level,” Law said at the conclusion of Bosisto’s first Domestic season.
